John Grieser, Owner
John’s passion for renewable energy was sparked in 2008, when oil prices peaked and he knew that something had to be done to ensure energy sustainability for future generations. He moved from Colorado to Oregon, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Renewable Energy Engineering from the Oregon Institute of Technology. Having worked for several large industry companies during school and after graduation, John noticed that he could make the biggest impact on the “front lines” of sustainable energy. This realization led him to found Elemental Energy with the goal of helping clients, both locally and internationally, to gain energy independence.
John is an Oregon Department of Energy Tax Credit Certified installer, a NABCEP Certified PV Installer, and an IGSHPA (International Ground Source Heat Pump Association) certified designer and installer. He previously worked in Research and Development at SolarWorld USA helping to advance next generation photovoltaic cell concepts.
In his spare time, John can be found standing atop a Cascade peak, skiing fresh powder, backpacking to remote vistas, or sampling the many microbreweries in Portland. As the old adage says, “you protect what you love, and you only love what you know.” John’s passion for outdoor adventure is evident in his fierce determination to protect the environment through the implementation of sustainable energy systems.
Brandon Little, Managing Director
Brandon’s interest in renewable energy began during his college days—while studying pre-med with the goal of becoming a surgeon, he ran a side business focused on investing stock in the sustainable energy industry. Although it wasn’t until several years later that he became interested in the renewable field as a career, he began investing his money in solar because he believed in its reliability and scalability. This belief transitioned into a full-fledged interest when he realized that, solar, rather than medicine, was the dominating force for change that he wanted to be a part of. With that, he returned to the Oregon Institute of Technology to earn a degree in Renewable Energy Engineering.
After graduation, Brandon worked for Imagine Energy, conducting building analysis and building energy systems design. After several years, seeking the added challenge and freedom that comes with being a part of a small business, he transitioned to join his former classmate, owner John Grieser, at Elemental Energy. Outside of work, Brandon enjoys any and all competition (he and John are corn hole champions!), music, travel, and spending time with his niece and nephew.
