Solar PV Installer

Job Summary


The Solar PV Installer duties include solar installs. You must be a mechanically minded individual to work in the field installing residential and light commercial grid-tied photovoltaic (PV) systems. The Solar PV Installer will be responsible for installing the photovoltaic system from beginning to end.

In this position, the Solar PV Installer will: coordinate with the Regional Manager, work side by side with other crew members and install all photovoltaic system components, while managing the installation of a fully functional photovoltaic system. The overall goal of the Solar PV Installer is to work with field personnel to achieve completion of the project with the highest level of safety, quality, efficiency and conformance to the original plans and specifications. This position has a pay rate of $16 to $20 an hour that is commensurate with experience. Benefits are also available for Full Time employees.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • review project plans and drawings and ensure that the project is built according to design
  • work with crew members to complete projects within established policies and procedures
  • communication with Regional Manager daily about job status and electrician on jobsite
  • responsible for placement and wiring of Soladeck junction box
  • assemble the solar array racking, properly seal all roof penetrations, install all relative equipment and set up solar monitoring system
  • maintain high levels of quality assurance and quality control with an emphasis on safety
  • diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions and operational issues
  • communicate with customers in a professional, considerate, and respectful manner, answering all questions and concerns to the best of your ability

Skills and Education

  • previous solar installation experience preferred (applicants with no solar and/or no electrical experience will be considered)
  • experience installing both roof and ground mount systems a plus
  • experience with micro and string inverters as well as setting up monitoring systems a plus
  • NABCEP Certification a plus
  • General construction knowledge to include: roofing, electrical, and carpentry skills a plus
  • experience complying with OHSA safety requirements and regulations a plus
  • professional appearance and excellent customer service
  • hard working attitude, good attention to detail and reliable and professional
  • maintain valid Driver's License and clean driving record
